Story

We are now past ten years since Toby contracted Type 1 diabetes and since we last asked for sponsorship money to aid research funding for a cure. Much has moved on in those ten years. Toby moved from needle injections to a continuously inserted insulin pump and the software and hardware for this continues to evolve. Insulin pumps are now funded by the NHS for all new Type 1 diabetics and the potential market for the Pharmaceutical Companies is enticing them to continually develop these pumps. This is all good news.

However, what we would all wish for Toby and all the other children who contract this life changing condition is a cure. As a cure would mean the lucrative income stream for these same pharmaceutical companies would cease, it is little wonder that all their research budgets go into the pumps and not into finding a cure.

Juvenile Diabetes Research Funding or JDRF as it is known, are however funding research for a cure. Huge advances in the area of Stem Cell research have made discovering a cure a real prospect. It is this reason that we support JDRF and are asking you to do the same. Please sponsor us in this ridiculous, pointless and knackering run so as Toby stands a better chance of living a longer and
less difficult life.
