Yes that is correct. I am taking part in the London Marathon. It comes as much of a complete shock to some (most) of you as it does to me.

As 2012 approached I decided that a few boxes needed to be ticked off before the dreaded 30. Having been vaguely sporty well over a decade ago and never having liked the long distance running it was of course the natural progression to participate in the London Marathon.

So when the amazing St Catherine's Hospice offered myself and my favourite wine drinking buddy, Hannah Phillips, a place, it was an offer we couldn’t turn down (ish). This was never going to be an easy task but the reality soon hit when I witnessed her trying to prove she could actually run and had to hand me her wine, Marlboros and credit cards to look after much to the amusement of several onlookers. Gruelling thoughts about training ensued which eventually developed into genuine movement. And now our only aim is to get round the 26.2 miles in one piece and raise money for a truly amazing cause.

I couldn’t be more proud to be running on behalf of such an incredible and worthy charity. I owe them a great deal for the support and care they have offered my family and this is just a small opportunity to give something back.
