Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have been extremely fortunate to have been offered a four month placement with Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO) as part of International Citizen Service (ICS) in Zambia. During placement, I will be one of two Team Leaders (the other will be an in-country counterpart) who will be in charge of a group of up to 18 volunteers that will live in small, rural community within the region of Serenje in Central Zambia. I will be living alongside a local host family and working directly with the community throughout my time.
The VSO ICS programmatic focus, within Zambia, is Health with a particular emphasis on Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH), seeking
to address challenges associated with access to SRH information and services, societal pressures and circumstances that perpetuate harmful sexual behaviour, economic poverty, stigma and discrimination, child marriages and other forms of abuse, adolescent pregnancies, and others that cause especially girls to drop out of school or to suffer fatal induced abortions.
I will be part of a multi-cultural team that will aim to work alongside local young people aged between 13-30 years who will also be encouraged to engage in promoting Community Health as peer educators. During placement, some activities may include distributing contraceptives, holding sessions about sexual health issues in schools, and organising sporting events to help raise awareness of HIV.
I would greatly appreciate any and all donations towards such a worthy cause. Every single penny goes towards the charity to continue on this vital and extremely important work not only Zambia, but other countries across the globe. This money will make a lasting change and allow projects, such as mine, to continue to develop and thrive for the people that need them most.
Thank you so much for your support.
