Pseudomyxoma Survivor aims to raise awareness of PMP and appendix cancers, to provide emotional and practical support and information to survivors and their families on our website and online community. We are also dedicated to raising funds for research into this extremely rare disease.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 30th September I am joining the Womens 40k Cycletta around Plumpton to raise money for Pseudomyxoma Survivor.

As many of you will know, my mum has suffered from this horrible disease for a long time. As this type of cancer is incredibly rare, it took many years for a correct diagnosis. Thankfully, due to the incredible team at the Pseudomyxoma Unit in Basingstoke and Northants Hospital, she has now undergone major surgery and has successfully had the tumours removed. The operation process itself and recovery is an absolutely huge ordeal to go through, and money I raise will help in supporting others who are facing this surgery and their families, plus fund research in the UK which will hopefully result in quicker diagnosis in the future for others.

I'm relatively new to cycling (having been given a new bike by my lovely husband for my Birthday recently). So far I have managed about 25k in one outing. I'm not the fastest cyclist to say the least and at my current level would estimate 2.5 hours for the 40k - as long as there aren't too many hills! However, I'm hoping to pick up a bit of stamina and speed to do the 40k in as near to two hours as I possibly can.

I would be incredibly grateful if you could spare a couple of £'s to sponsor me
