Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We're doing the IoW 106km challenge to raise money for a very special charity close to our hearts. Our wonderful friend Soph and her fiance, Chris, have a beautiful baby boy with Congenital Central Hypoventilation Syndrome (CCHS), which means he stops breathing every time he falls asleep. The condition is only known to affect 1,000 people worldwide.

We have known Soph for over 28 years and wanted to do a monster challenge together to raise money for the CCHS support group - a charity which provides much-needed support for families affected by the condition.

Little Charlie's condition impacts how the central nervous system controls breathing, forcing Charlie to wear a mask attached to a ventilator every time he nods off. Ever since he was finally sent home from hospital at four months old, Charlie has had to have his oxygen and carbon dioxide levels closely monitored by carers every night.

Sophie and Chris are incredible - they are strong, brave and every challenge they face they work through together. Charlie is currently in hospital with pneumonia, just one of many tough times they've had to deal with since he was born. Their lives have changed immeasurably - everyday life is difficult with Charlie, so even visiting the supermarket is a big achievement.

Any donation, no matter how big or small, would mean the world to us and it might just make running 106km (yes, running - Soph thinks we're mad) that little bit easier!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
