For the last 10 years or so , I have worked as part of an inspiring group of people,  providing support , advice and treatment to patients of all ages with cleft lip and palate . We are all highly trained and both we and our patients have benefitted from the amazing NHS care pathways and training it enables . 

This year , I have volunteered to help Facing the World . It’s a charity who pulls together experts who can provide the same support advice and treatment for children and adults in Vietnam who don’t have access to a care system like the NHS. The aim is that we support and train local teams of clinicians and surgeons ,  so that these teams will develop their own care pathways and so provide a long term solution locally . Vietnam has a particularly high incidence of facial differences at birth and this is believed to be due to the use of Agent Orange. 

This is my first step in providing help for Facing the World . I’ve done this race before but this year feels tougher after my Achilles snap last year. It’s been a bit of journey in itself . Thank you for taking the time to look at their website http://facingtheworld.net/
