We support and advocate for families across the UK who have all lost loved ones as a result of killings by people with mental illness. We work with the NHS and others to prevent further avoidable tragedies. And we provide evidence, training, and resources to influence change.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We're running in memory of Sally Hodkin, Sarah's much-loved mother-in-law, who was violently attacked and killed in 2011 by a woman with known mental health issues and a history of violence, in South East London.

Tragically, around a 100 families a year will have a loved one killed by someone with mental illness in the UK. And the families of victims don't often get the support they need at this very difficult time. A Hundred Families was set up to help fill this gap.

To date a Hundred families have helped over 100 families with support, information and advocacy, after killings by people with mental illness.

They also work with the Criminal Justice system and Health service and other organisations to prevent further tragedies like these happening in future.

So we'd like to help them by raising awareness of the issue and raising money for the charity so it can continue to provide much needed support when families need it, and continue to lobby for policy and practice change to prevent future tragedies.

We've been training hard over the last few months and welcome any donations, no matter how small, to keep us motivated and moving!!

With thanks and love, Sarah and Helen
