We help veterans and their families to live the life they deserve after service
Story
Having watched the BBC documentary ‘Wounded’ and having been completely amazed by the strength and courage shown by the soldiers as they came to terms with horrendous injuries. I thought it was about time that I did my bit for the amazing charity ‘Help for Heroes’.
Whilst we all sit at home thinking how unfair it is that it is raining again or feeling sorry for ourselves because we have a cold, these men and women are risking their lives and limbs. Every time I watch the home coming of a regiment on the news, I can’t help thinking about those people whose loved one will not be coming home or whose battle is only just beginning in a hospital or rehabilitation unit.
These men and women deserve our help, to do your bit please sponsor me to undertake the ‘100km trek of the Sahara’. This challenge basically follows the itinerary below:
DAY 1: Depart London for Ouarzazate; transfer to hotel DAY 2: Drive to M’hamid and the start of the trek; head off into the dunes DAY 3: Trekking amongst small dunes and tamarisk trees following the Jebel Bani DAY 4: A mixture of stony plateau and soft sand with camp overlooking the dunes DAY 5: A morning of rough hamada; lunch under a lone tree and onto camp DAY 6: Scale the heights of Chagaga, the largest dune in the region: great views! DAY 7: Cross the Iriki Saltpan, through acacia trees and shimmering heat DAY 8: Sunrise walk ends trek, drive to Marrakech for a big celebration DAY 9: Free day to explore Marrakech DAY 10: Depart Marrakech for London
That’s not much I hear you say, but 100km is basically the same as walking from Colchester, Essex to central London in temperatures of around 25⁰C to 30⁰C and in 7 days! Ah, you now say that is quite a challenge, so please sponsor me and help me to Help our Heroes. Please feel free to forward this link on to all of your friends and family to help me to raise more money.
If you are a UK Taxpayer, please enter your full name, address, postcode and tick the Giftaid box, as H4H will be able to claim £0.28 for every £1.00 donated from the Government providing all of the above are provided.
