Story
As you may know I am a trustee of Freightliners City Farm. It is a beautiful urban oasis in Islington and a support centre for the vulnerable in the local community.
Freightliners is a small farm in an urban setting providing the opportunity for local individuals and groups to learn from and interact with the environment and each other through animal care, horticulture and sustainable practices. It was founded on wasteland behind Kings Cross station in London in 1973. Originally the animals were housed in railway goods vans, hence the name. The Farm moved to its present site in 1978 and new purpose built farm buildings were erected in 1988.
To raise money for the farm we are organising a 5km race of cows vs pigs, which you can run or walk. The route will starts at the farm and go around Islington, taking in some of the official droving routes from the old cattle market.
Either come join us or sponsor me to run through Islington in a cow onesie! Any amount is welcome to help pay for maintenance of farm building, rebuilding the pig pens, or buying feed and bedding for our rare breed animals!
