Story

Hi there!

Firstly, thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I foolishly signed up for the London Marathon 2018 after watching a relative complete the 2017 marathon thinking, "I could do that."
So, I applied and got a charity place with VSO.
I am not your 'typical' runner, 6 months ago I was unable to run a bath, let alone 26.2 miles.
In September, I completed a half marathon in 2hrs 12 minutes - the thought of turning around and running it again terrifies me, so keep up to date with my progress here and on Facebook.

Voluntary Service Overseas - VSO - Who are they?

Well, as you all know (hopefully) I am a teacher and work in a truly fantastic school in Birmingham. The children are a delight and make it the best job in the world!

However, there are millions of children who do not have access to education across the globe. I can only teach one class at a time so when I recently discovered VSO, a charity who send teachers abroad to train new teachers in countries which desperately need them, I was inspired.

Last year alone they worked with 140 partners in 16 countries. They trained 78,000 educators and reached 922,000 children and adults!

Much more than I could ever dream of helping, or so I thought. With your help, and my lunacy, we can keep this charity doing such amazingly vital work.

They don’t just stop at training teachers either! Last year they worked improving healthcare with 127 partners in 15 countries. They trained 31,000 local health practitioners, helping almost one million people receive the quality healthcare needed for a life free of poverty.

Finally, thanks for taking the time to read my story.
If you like me, leave a donation to support me.
If you dislike me, leave a larger donation to see me in pain, agony, and discomfort for 26.2 miles.

Thanks,

Saul
