On 25 May I'll be taking part in my first triathlon (swim, cycle, run), and Jacob will be doing his bit in his first "scootathlon" (scoot, cycle, run). It's called a "sprint" triathlon (so its not quite the Olympic distance), but I will be doing my best just to make it to the end without drinking too much lake water or my knees buckling on the run.  

Most importantly, its a chance to raise money for The Friends of Della and Don, my sister's charity, which she set up to do something directly for the people of a fishing village in Sri Lanka, one of whom saved her life during the Boxing Day Tsunami of 2004.  Della and her husband Don have been back to Sri Lanka twice a year since then, and their commitment to providing direct help to those who they know needs it in the village has not wavered.  I've seen the benefits first hand having spent 2 months there in 2009.  Please give generously, and check out the charity website http://www.friendsofdellaanddon.com/  or watch a video about some of its acttivites:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=9dvCk_y07r0
