Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Hello folks,

I hope all’s well. I’m doing the Dublin Marathon this year
and I’m going to try and raise a bit of money for Inspire Mental Health
Well-being and Recovery (formerly NIAMH) in the process. Most people have been affected either directly or indirectly by mental health issues at some stage in their lives and it’s an area where we can all do our bit to help. From a personal point of view, I’ve lost friends and family members to mental health and countless people I know have suffered from some form of mental illness, so if we can help in any way at all, it could make an enormous difference to someone’s quality of life. There are many forms of mental illness which require varied levels of support and services and Inspire provides community based support services in many locations throughout the country, so you would be directly helping the provision of these services in your area. Below is a small insight into the services that Inspire provides.

Inspire mental health provides a range of person-centred services across Northern Ireland to approximately 1,500 people per week based on our Social Care Model for flourishing mental health. It’s important to remember that whatever you donate, you will be supporting the one in four people that experience mental ill-health every year, and helping to make a lasting difference to their lives. There has always been a stigma around mental health and people are often too afraid to admit to having mental health concerns. This is slowly changing and with your help, we can encourage those affected to seek the support they deserve. Mental ill-health can be just as destructive as many physical illnesses, yet the support offered to sufferers is limited. Our funds will provide services directly to those suffering a range of
mental health conditions to support them on their road to recovery.

The Inspire Mental Health Social Care Model embraces recovery principles to acknowledge that well-being is accessible to all, including those who have experience in mental illness. The Inspire Social Care Model includes a wide range of services that are designed to help people to find and maintain hope, re-establish a positive identity, build a meaningful life, and take responsibility and control.

Any donation that you can manage is very welcome and all are greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

Sean
