Farleigh Hospice provides hospice care & support to people affected by life-limiting illnesses. With approximately 40% of our annual running costs funded by the local NHS, we rely on the goodwill of the local mid Essex community to contribute to the £21,271 it costs to provide our services each day.

Story

Sean says `Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page`.

Many thanks for all your pledges and Donations. As well as on-line donations, the congregations of the Holy Trinity RC South Woodham Ferrers, English Martyrs Danbury, and St. John the Baptist Church Danbury, the amount pledged £1,237.00 of which £647.00 has been donated and passed to Farleigh Hospice. The remainder will be sought when I finish the walk.

My Walk was cut short due to a `slip` on the first day, the first day being Monday 12th Nov. 2012. My  days walking finished 70-miles and 5-days later at the town of Baena on Friday 17th.

I fully intend to return next April to complete the remainder of this walk.

Having `slipped` and `split all the flesh on the knuckle of my middle finger on my left hand when I was about 1-mile from my planned destination at Pinos Peunte, I had to take a bus back to Granada and the Centro de Salud (Health Centre) and have my finger stitched. Stayed overnight in Granada.

Next morning, took a bus back to Pinos Puente, and walked to the hilltop village of Moclin, a huge climb of about 2,000 feet over a distance of about 2-miles. It was `dark` when I got there.

Next day on to Acala de Real, but had to return to Granada as my finger and hand was swollen with a  huge infection. More treatment at Centro de Salud and percribed antibiotics. Another night in Granada.

Bus  next day back to Alcala de Real and walked to Alcaudeta - this was a real struggle, and was helped by an angel who gave me a ride in a van for the last 4-5 miles.

After a good rest, out on the way to Baena 16-miles ahead. As the day went on, my energy levels dropped and I was really struggling at about 10-miles. Guess what, another `angel` with a white van rescued me and took me into Baena. the effects of the infection and antibiotics were wrecking my energy levels.

Set out on Sat 17th, but after 3-miles or so I turned back and gave up knowing I would not be able to walk the 12-miles to my next stopover.

So ended my walk  from Granada to Merida at this time, but I will return and finish the walk next April, please God.

That is the story so far, and will continue next April/May

Once again, thank you all for your support a, good wishes and the help you give through your donations.
