The Wave Project is an award winning UK charity that helps vulnerable children and young people improve their health and wellbeing through a combination of surfing and mentoring. With the aid of our amazing volunteers and supporters, we've worked with thousands of children over the past 12 years.

Story

Meet Danny*. Danny is a very shy, very friendly boy who suffers from confidence issues. But he doesn't give up that easy. After 2 sessions with the Wave Project he managed to stand up on a board - and I've never seen someone so over the moon about managing to do so. He punched the air, let out a loud 'yewwww' and then quietly told me afterwards: 'My mum's going to be so proud when I tell her'. He now comes in every week with a slight spring in his step and seems to believe in himself a bit more.

The Wave Project offers free surf programs to children who've had a difficult start to life or who suffer from social or mental health issues. All supported by volunteers, it helps young people feel less anxious and more positive. One of the programs is run out of the surf school that we work at, so we've been able to witness the Wave Project's incredibly positive impact first hand. Seb is the instructor for some of the programs so has had the chance to work directly with the young people affected, and he can tell you that they always have more of a smile on their face after spending time in the water.

We're running the Croyde Ocean Triathlon, a fairly tough event which involves a sea swim and alot of hills. This is mainly for fun as we both like to believe we're athletes, however we thought we'd also use this as an opportunity to raise some funds for the Wave Project, a truly fantastic charity which we've both had the chance to support and see the benefits of first hand.

Anything you're able to donate is massively appreciated - you're helping to get more young people in the sea!
