I am raising money for the Buddy Bag Foundation. It is a charity I only recently became aware of and I immediately wanted to help in whatever ways I could. 

48,000 children require emergency accommodation in the UK each year.  Children fleeing violent situations often have to leave home quickly, without a chance to collect basic items. A Buddy Bag can help to restore a sense of safety and security. It contains essential items such as toiletries, pyjamas, socks and underwear, as well as comfort items such as a book, photo frame and a teddy. A Buddy Bag is something a child can call their own, no matter where they go.

The Buddy Bag Foundation has now packed over 13,000 bags!

How does it work? 

Buddy Bags will be funded through fundraising, sponsorship and
donations. Groups of items can be either donated or sponsored. Individual volunteers or large companies looking for community projects for their staff to support will meet at venues throughout the UK every fortnight to fill the Buddy Bags.

The Buddy Bags will be stored and distributed to women’s refuges in the UK that deal with children who have been victims of domestic and
sexual abuse. Each participating centre will keep a stock of Buddy Bags that can be handed to children when they are placed in emergency care. Staff who work at the emergency foster care centres will be able to order up to 30 Buddy Bags at any one time direct from our Buddy Bag Foundation website. When stock levels run low, a simple form can be completed and a stock of Buddy Bags will
be replenished. There is no cost to the centre or any individual who
participates in the scheme.

Each donation of £25.00 ensures that one child will receive
a complete Buddy Bag full of essential items as outlined above.

• A donation of £5.00 helps us to provide toiletries to a child in need.

• A donation of £15.00 helps us to provide toiletries, underwear and pyjamas to a child in need.

• A donation of £20.00 helps us to provide toiletries,
underwear, pyjamas and a cuddly teddy bear to a child in need.

Every donation will make a difference to a child.
