My lovely mum Jenny worked for many years at the Saint Catherine’s Charity shop in Scarborough, Mum loved her role there and she really believed in the charity’s work.  When she was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2017 the hospice provided help and support to her and my Dad. When my Mum’s condition deteriorated they gave respite care and eventually provided many weeks of in patient care before she came home to die. 

I’ve been running for about 10 years but 5k is my normal distance....I was lucky/unlucky enough to get a ballot place - I opened the letter a few hours after hearing my mum had gone. Having spent a lot of time at the Hospice with my mum in her final weeks, I want to give something back to help support the amazing work they do there.
