Serena's Wing Walk

Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the womb starts to grow in other places, such as the ovaries, fallopian tubes, bladder, liver and other organs.
Endometriosis can affect women of any age even from a very young age.
Endometriosis is an inflammatory disease, that takes an average of 8 -10 years to diagnose. My diagnosis took close to that. Countless appointments and referrals, Eventually after crying and refusing to give up at the doctors i was sent to have laparoscopic surgery in 2019 and was woken up to be told "im sorry you do have Endometriosis and your organs were stuck together"
This chronic disease can affect you in a number of ways Initially each month, especially during a period but after my laparoscopic surgery things seemed to have got worse the pain was present in some way on a daily basis.
Endometriosis can also be the main reason to infertility. It’s not enough that this disease has taken away our quality of life, but it has also has taken away most womens dreams of having a family as trying to get help with pregnancy can cost thousands of pounds which some people just dont have.
In 2022 i had to take another risk with going through my second surgery which i was excited to go through to ease my pain but at the same time scared as i was being told it could cause me further issues down the line, half way through surgery it was paused due to my heart taking a bad turn as my endo had somehow managed to travel all the way up and around some more of my organs, straight away i already had further complications which then lead to me staying in hospital a few more days. 6 months on and I have been told that my surgery wasn't successful and actually my ovary is stuck again however at this stage we are unsure if this is the diease or I was just unlucky and the surgey wasn't done correctly.
It shouldnt have to take 8 years to get a diagnosis and i feel there just isnt enough awareness about Endometriosis.
Endometriosis can cause the following:
• Chronic pain
• Fatigue/lack of energy
• Depression/isolation
• Problems with life/relationships/friendships
• An inability to conceive / misscarriages
• Difficulty in fulfilling work and social commitments
• Bladder and bowel issues
• Leg and Hip pain
There currently is no cure for Endometriosis just options to help a little, surgery now an again to remove it however it just grows back, birth control, and well just lots of pain killers, which I'm struggling to come to terms with, how can there not be a cure when there is cures for other illnesses.
So if you see me on a hot sunny day walking around with a hot water bottle please do not say " how can you be cold " im not cold im just trying my hardest to get through my day and my hot water bottle is my new best friend.
So after years of suffering, I wanted to raise money for Endometriosis UK and to help make more people aware of endometriosis, just remember this could happen to a loved one, your friend and your children.
So i have decided to do a wing walk, some of you might ask whats a wing walk.. basically im being strapped to a plane and taking off.
I would really appricate if you could all help me in raise enough money to make a difference.
Thank you Xx
