Save the Children exists to help every child reach their full potential. In the UK and around the world, we make sure children stay safe, healthy and keep learning, so they can become who they want to be.

Story

I am climbing Nevado Sajama, Bolivia's highest mountain at more than 6,542 metres. Why? I am raising money for "Save the Children", to fund a project for children in my home country of Bolivia.

Children in Bolivia are suffering from high levels of malnutrition, parasites and illnesses that are easily preventable. A lack of a national school health programme, poor health and hygeine knowledge and behaviour is leading to a cycle of illness and poor educational attainment for Bolivia's children.

- 1 in 4 children in Bolivia never enrol in school

- 6 out of 10 children drop out of school before completing primary education

- Only 50% of children even start secondary school

Save the Children is working to break this cycle. Building on previous successful work, we plan to implement a project to help 15,000 children in La Paz and El Alto stay healthy, allowing them to succeed in school and reach their potential.
