Story
THANK YOU for visiting my page!
I'm raising money for AfriKids, a charity who work in rural northern Ghana to alleviate poverty and improve the lives of thousands of children.
The Experience
This Easter I will travel to Bolgatanga, the upper east region of Ghana, and live with my host family experiencing what life is like for those in the region. I will be fully immersed in the community, sleeping in a mud hut compound, helping prepare meals, fetching water and working as a teacher for a class of up to 60 children.
I am paying for the cost of the trip myself (c. £1,100) but I also need to raise at least £1,000, which will all be used to support the initiatives that AfriKids are running.
Taking part in the Experience Challenge is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I would be incredibly grateful if you would consider sponsoring me. I am already so excited (and a little nervous) about all elements of the trip.
Why you should support Afrikids
The money I raise will help AfriKids continue to improve lives in this part of Ghana, from resettling children and young people who have been trafficked to larger cities back into their homes, providing them with vocational training and support in setting up their own businesses so they can grow into independent adults, to taking children out of mining and placing them in education, ensuring their health and happiness is no longer at risk.
To give you an idea of the difference your money can make:
§ *£14 is enough to buy a work uniform for an ex-resident of Mama Laadi’s Foster Home who is now in vocational training ensuring they’re equipped with the skills needed to set up their own business or pursue a career and lead an independent life
§ **£30 is enough to buy three new-born baby blankets for the Maternity & Child Welfare Unit at the Afrikids Medical centre
§ ***£65 is enough to pay for a microfinance loan for a woman to invest in a new business which will enable her to generate income for her family to fund necessities like schooling and health insurance for her entire family for the year
So, please dig deep and bring a big smile to a little face in Ghana and me!
(And don’t forget to look at the above pics to get a glimpse into where I’ll be!)
Lots of Love
