Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page for Winter Walk for Gaza 2014.
Gaza's kids deserve to live. This is the reason why I'm walking 5 miles on the 25th of January 2014 for Gaza's kids. Anything you give through this page will go directly to Muslim Hands Charity who is organizing this event. From food to medication, anything you contribute will make a huge difference in the lives of those kids.
Since 2008, thousands of children in Gaza have been trying to recover from wartime experiences, but it has been a difficult journey. Together, they make up the future of Gaza and are 60% of its population, and yet suffering from childhood memories continues to hold them back. They also suffer from malnutrition and the many medical problems it brings. As children, they look to their families and neighbours to help, and today we are able to help them.
Urgent need for pychosocial and medical support
The children of Gaza have been psychologically damaged and suffer from severe health/medical issues. One of the biggest challenges the mobile health clinic faces on a daily basis is the countless number of children in Gaza that suffer from anaemia and very poor dental care. We hope to make it possible for Gaza's children to receive psychosocial care and medical check-ups in a part of the world where there is not enough help available.
Al-Durrah Hospital's future
With your continued support we have seen tremendous improvements in the Al-Durrah Paediatric Hospital. However, there is still a long way to go before we reach the level of medical care the children of Gaza deserve. Much work and improvements need to be carried out in the hospital, for instance the rehabilitation of the radiology department, maintenance of the in-patient ward 2 and the development of several health facilities.
