Story
On the 20th of October, I will be taking part in the TSC Amsterdam Half Marathon in aid of Epilepsy Research UK.
Over 600,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with epilepsy, with 30% of these not responding to medication. Even if seizures are controlled, people often experience other problems related to the condition including; memory loss and side effects from anti-epileptic medication. This is extremely close to my heart, having seen my mum endure this illness for the duration of her life.
Epilepsy Research UK is a national charity whose drive is it enable funding for ground-breaking scientific research to develop new treatments and ultimately lead to the prevention of epilepsy. This has had enormous positive impacts on early and clinical research, providing resources for future work. However, to fully benefit patients, further research is required meaning more funding is vital.
I will be using this page, just as I did last year, to provide lots of updates on both my training and fundraising leading up to the race! No matter how big your donation is it will be going towards an incredible charity and helping to improve many lives!
