Waxing of the awesome foresome · 11 November 2018

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust Charity works hard to make a difficult time a little bit easier for young and old at our family of nine hospitals. Supporting: Manchester Royal Infirmary | Wythenshawe Hospital | Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital | Manchester Royal Eye Hospital | Saint Mary’s Hospital | Manchester University Dental Hospital | Withington Community Hospital | Trafford General Hospital | Altrincham Hospital | North Manchester General Hospital. We support continuing excellence in treatment, care and research.

Story

Since 2016 Noah Maclaren who was just 10 years developed what Doctors at the time thought was ITP (Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura) which is a disorder that can lead to easy or excessive bruising and bleeding whilst destroying platelets in the blood, however upon further research and whilst under the guidance of RMCH (Royal Manchester Children's Hospital) Noah was diagnosed in November 2017 with Bone Marrow Hypo Plasia which is when the bone marrow is not producing enough cells (Platelets) As a result of this he needs very close monitoring which is done with weekly hospital appointments within the haematology clinic at RMCH,  This is for the monitoring of his blood count/Platelets, At times Noah needs transfusions of blood products.  RMCH are working towards a definitive treatment for curing Noah of his bone marrow hypo plasia and this definitive treatment will hopefully be a bone marrow transplant. The impact of having bone marrow failure for Noah has meant  a huge lifestyle change, Noah has been involved in as many sports activities all his life  from local and school football teams, to school athletics, rugby and cricket but has had to give up all of these as well bike riding and playing out with friends, which for most people would be extremely difficult to accept however Noah is inspirational and fully understands the complications to his health and has shown true courage and bravery at all times whilst being very determined to get well and recover fully.  RMCH is an amazing place that have an extraordinary and wonderful team who work tirelessly and they need endless support to continue all of the research that will hopefully make a difference to so many children's lives.

Therefore four colleagues of mine are going through a little bit of pain with the waxing of their chests, back and legs to try and raise as much awareness and money as they can for the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital Bone Marrow Failure Unit.  They are starting on the 11th November and the waxing date will be 15th December (pictures will be shared on social media to show the aftermath of this fantastic charitable act) Please give generously.
