Welcome to my Ugandan Adventure!

In the summer of 2015, I along with many other volunteers across the UK, will be travelling to Uganda with East African Playgrounds to bring the children a brand new playground area to encourage play within the community. Unlike in the UK, the children of Uganda do not always have the freedom or the environment to enjoy play. However, through EAP, we hope to bring play back into their lives, allowing the children to explore, learn create and inspire! Our mission does not simply end once the playground is built, as we will then go on to work alongside local artists and teachers to provide arts and games clubs, that allow the children to develop problem solving and creativity skills.

EAP does not only help the children, but it also aims to help the communities where the schools are located. In the building of the playground, qualified East African tradesman are given full time employment, and young adults have the opportunity to gain apprenticeships. On top of this, the majority of materials used are sourced locally. 

Since the birth of EAP in 2009, there are now over 150 volunteers and build around 13 playgrounds per year. The future looks bright for EAP, as they aim to expand their terrific work into a second country. For any further info on the charity please visit:
