This year marks the beginning of a new decade for me.  I am celebrating by trying to get fit again and raising funds for Lupus UK, a UK based charity which dedicates itself to providing information and support for the Lupus patient and their families as well as fund research into treatments and cures for Lupus. 

I've dusted off my running shoes, poured myself into lycra (apologies!) and restarted C25K in order to be able to run the whole course this year.  I would like to complete it in an hour - if you are reading this and think I need a toe up the backside (or a firm but gentle motivational talk!), please feel free!

I was diagnosed with Lupus and Scleroderma just over two years ago although I know I was living with the illnesses for a while prior to diagnosis.  While it was a relief of sorts to be given a diagnosis and know that everything I had been experiencing was not all in my head, it was still a shock.  I feel very fortunate that I am well enough to work, exercise and have a good quality of life but I do have my moments! 

Lupus affects people in different ways and I am very lucky to be able to train for this race but I do not take that for granted.  I am very grateful for your support in trying to raise funds for this charity.  The support they have provided over the last couple of years has been useful and encouraging.  Looking forward to July 10th!
