Walk a mile in my shoes · 10 June 2019

Sands is the charity speaking up about pregnancy and baby loss, saving babies’ lives and supporting bereaved families. Together, we are saving babies’ lives and improving maternity safety and bereavement care through research, training and campaigning.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I will be taking part in a walk for SANDS charity to raise money and awareness. 15 babies every day in the uk are still born with many parents unable to find out why.

SANDS need donations to help research and reduce the amount of stillborns and neonatal deaths. Just £15 pays for support packs and advice for bereaved parents. £150 will help provide parents with memory boxes which is everything they have to hold onto after their loss. £1500 could help fund the costs of a medical research project to identify babies most at risk of stillbirth and neonatal death and to develop new treatments and better care to reduce the loss of babies' lives.

June is baby loss awareness month, so many parents and families suffer in silence and I would love to help out in any way I can.

Walking for my beautiful Daisy x

7 weeks ago I was 3 days away from my due date when I felt my baby’s movement change. I went to the hospital where they couldn’t find a heartbeat. I naturally went into labour and gave birth the day before my due date.

We had a beautiful baby girl and named her daisy.

When you are pregnant you think of all the things you will do with your new born, you buy all the things you will need. You tell your other child they’re going to be a big sister, your parents they’re going to be grandparents again.

Never do you think you have to plan a funeral, will you have them cremated, what to do with yourself on a day to day basis. Having to wait for results for months to find out what happened to your baby, if they can find out what it was.

I’m not one to post my life on social media but I feel like my story should be told. I’m so grateful for the care I received. For my incredible midwife who made my labour as normal as possible. I’m so overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity with their donations to my page for SANDS. When my daughter should have been one month we were at her funeral, when she should be two months I will be doing my walk in her memory.

I so so appreciate all that have donated and would love to see if any more people will donate. Even just a pound makes a world of difference.
