Under normal circumstances, summer is challenging for youth and families in Banyan's urban neighborhood. The summer of 2020 will be far from normal! COVID-19 prompted months of distance learning followed by widespread civil unrest as the result of George Floyd's killing.
Banyan kids have been isolated in their homes, and the lack of opportunities increases the achievement gap. BUT BANYAN YOUTH AND FAMILIES have a different opportunity.
Banyan offers 7 weeks of summer programming for maximum engagement. Banyan staff are utilizing guidelines from the CDC and MDH to ensure everyone's safety as they:
1. Provide enhanced ACADEMIC EMPHASIS to help youth close the education gap created by school closures and distance learning.
2. Address SOCIAL EMOTIONAL NEEDS exacerbated by social distancing and neighborhood unrest.
3. Offer a fun and exciting outlet for youth to engage in PHYSICAL ACTIVITY and play.
Your support helps ensure delivery of a program full of learning and memories!
