Story
We are giving up our beds for a sleeping bag and a pile of cardboard to raise as much money as we can to help give homeless young people a future.
What is Sleep Out? The first Sleep Out was created to give an opportunity for people to experience a little of what it might be like to be homeless, whilst raising funds and awareness of youth homelessness. We will be sleeping out on Friday 13th April...and we are hoping we wont be unlucky in our fund raising! We have started with a modest amount but with your support we can smash that out of the park. We cant publish where we are sleeping as we dont want to attract any unwelcome visitors during the night but you can be sure that there will be plenty of photos after the event.
Centrepoint is the UK’s leading charity for homeless young people, supporting 9,000 young people every year. They help 16-25 year olds into a safe place to live, give them a health assessment and plan support for their individual mental and physical health needs and starting them on a path to getting into work or education, and a home of their own.
We can help young people like Kyle.
Kyle was just 13 years old when he first slept on the streets. He was struggling with his mental health and couldn’t find the right support. After years of family arguments, sofa surfing and dangerous situations, he finally found the right support through Centrepoint. He was able to access counselling and find work that he loved that motivated him. He is now living independently and working to help prevent other young people becoming homeless.
With a little help more than one in five young people leave Centrepoint with more qualifications than when they arrived.
Team members will be announced very shortly so watch this space for the full listing.....but you might get to see Katie Williams in her pj's or Hannah Logan in her fluffy slippers.....Caroline Heaver with her rollers in.....Kieran Haynes with his facemask on....Jane Churchill just looking generally fabulous in anything she wears or me which is always a treat! Now with the addition of Lora Elton in her bikini (maybe?) and Nicola Currant to help keep us in line with Health & Safety! The Team is growing....we now have the glamorous Debbie Cousins and I am sure you will want to see pics of her in her negligee set....Rob Carter, probably not in his negligee and Jayne Neal who apparently has experience of being a bag lady! Lee Smith is our 12th member....IT geek...just in case we need to "turn it off and turn it on again"!
So......we are hoping that you will support us in our Sleepout for Centrepoint....no matter what amount you can donate it all counts so thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We can ALL make a difference so please donate, don't just read and move on!
Thank you
