There's nothing like facing a new decade to force you to take stock.  I've been very lucky so far, so it is only right that I try to do something to pass that luck along.

Unfortunately when it comes to Cancer, being lucky really takes the form of very very hard work and lots of time and positive energy.  Breakthrough Breast Cancer is a great charity doing fantastic work to futher research for a cure, as well as assisting survivors, families and communities cope.

Members of my family have had breast cancer - and thankfully are healthy survivors.  However, we all know people who are or have had to fight very hard against a disease which is perilously ubiquitous.

I have decided to trek the ancient Inca Trail to Matchu Picchu in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer to do my tiny bit to fundraise and push myself to do something physically demanding.  It won't be anywhere near the demands of so many brave women fighting cancer every day, but perhaps it will remind me again, acutely, how lucky I am.
