First Touch supports sick and premature babies cared for at St George’s neonatal unit in SW London. We fund state-of-the-art equipment and specialist staff training which are outside of the scope of NHS budgets, as well as a range of initiatives to support families during their stay on the unit.

Story

Hey Everyone

Thank you for taking the time to visit my just giving page!

My story.. where to begin? At 7 months pregnant I went for the scan that would save my sons life. As I waited for an update my sonographer informed me that he was no longer growing and I would have to have an emergancy caesarean. Scared and afraid for his life the next day I gave birth to a fragile 3 pound baby. Thanks be to God that he was born a fighter. He had jaundice, could not keep his self warm and struggled to breath on his own amongst other things. We spent the next 6 weeks together in the neonatal unit at st georges hospital. This became our temporary home.

There I met extraordinary mums, dads and babies with incredible stories of strength love and survival. The journey was hard for us and perhaps even more difficult for some other families I met there. The experience was something I would have never been able to prepare for.

My early
journey into motherhood and all those incredible beautiful babies touched my heart forever. Luckily for me and the parents that pass through the neonatal unit there is an outstanding team, they are supportive and loving and do the most amazing job. However in order to keep up this job they need funding and help to be able to buy things such as incubators and breast feeding chairs for the mothers.

I am proud to be raising money to help those babies who come into the world fighting. For those of you who know me, will know I am not incredibly fit. Lol but if one thing my experience has taught me is anything is possible, to never give up and fight for the people you love . I will be training to run to help raise money for those babies so please donate and help me to support this cause.
