Story
I would like to raise awareness and some money for UK charity Same You that supports rehabilitation for people who have suffered from a traumatic head injury.
I made a promise that if my son Connor managed to come off the ventilator and survive his terrible accident (an accidental fall) in October 2020, that I would also face a challenge step by step and attempt to walk the entire Camino de Santiago with my pack, a distance of approximately 900kms.
He has exceeded all expectations and continues to show an inspiring level of dedication to his rehabilitation and on his journey of getting on with life in general and rising to every challenge.
I don't know if my knees and feet are up to it but I will give it my best shot. I will travel to France on 1st August and start my walk on the French side of the Pyrenees on Tuesday 2nd August. I hope to walk all the way to Santiago and on to Finistere on the Northwest coast of Spain.
Please pass this link on to anyone you think may want to show their support in this way.
Thank you to all our family, friends and friends of friends. The network of support for Connor and our family has been widespread and we are incredibly grateful.
Lots of love to you all. Shirley xxx
