Winter Walk · 19 January 2020 ·

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

My dad was diagnosed with dementia in 2015 and passed away in 2017. His symptoms developed fast and seeing him deteriorate so quickly physically and mentally was the most heartbreaking. My dad was my rock, I lost a part of my soul when we lost dad, a great father, wonderful brother, loving granddad, fun uncle and good friend to many. He was truly an amazing man.

In 2020, I am doing a number of challenges throughout the year in memory of my dad and to raise much needed funds for dementia - to raise awareness, further research, develop services to give quality of life for those diagnosed and improve support for families and carers. I also pledge to match what I raise!!  This half marathon winter event is the first of my challenges. I hope you can support me.

A little about the charity - Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
