Story

Raising money for Everyman - the UKs leading prostate and testicular cancer charity

On Saturday 25th September 2010 six brave souls embark on a 22 mile rowing adventure as part of the 2010 Great River Race on the Thames.

Team 'Shock and Oar' are hoping to complete this mamoth task in less than the 5 hours it took them on their last outing in 2006 and hope to raise money for the prostate and testicular cancer charity Everyman at the same time.

Everyman's mission is to stamp out testicular and prostate cancer. They aim to achieve this by making everyone recognise the tell-tale signs, and understand the importance of treating them. By increasing this awareness they also hope to raise money to fund our life-saving research.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

We would like to thank our friends at the 1st Cuddington (Warspite) Sea Scouts for their support in providing training and the boat (it would be a long swim without it).

Everyman is an appeal run by The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR). Every year some 10,000 men lose their lives to prostate cancer and over 2,000 others have their world turned upside down by a diagnosis of testicular cancer. These men are the reason we are fundraising for male specific cancers.
