Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am an international student from Chennai, India studying BioMedical Engineering at King's College London, with a passion to make a change in the healthcare field.

I lost my grandmother to the deadly pulmonary fibrosis in 2016. My grandmother is the reason my family is where it is today. She inspired in all of us, selflessness, a strong will, and unconditional love. However, watching such an independent woman struggle to perform her daily tasks due to dependence on an oxygen tank is what initially triggered my interest in BioMedical Engineering. I realized the need for better technology and more importantly, better access to already existing technology in the healthcare field. There is nothing better to remember and honor her in my eyes, than to work towards ensuring people around the world get the medical attention they deserve to get. The Little Things is a student-led charity aiming to develop healthcare in developing countries.  They have numerous projects aimed at tackling the same.- funding an eye clinic in Tanzania, a premature baby clinic in Kilinochchi, to name a few. The money you donate will go towards the development of a paediatric unit for Gulu Regional Referral Hospital in Uganda. It will be the first government hospital in Uganda with piped oxygen.

I strongly urge you to check out their website - www.thelittlethings.org.uk to get a better insight into the impact this organization has already made.

I hope every one of you can join us in making a change in today's world, where healthcare is a trillion dollar business, and yet, millions struggle to access basic facilities on a daily basis. Together, we must take responsibility and work to create a better future. Thank you for your interest and if you've gotten till down here and read all of this, you know what to do next!
