Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On a recent trip to Nairobi I met a polio victim that had suffered unimaginable abuse as a child just for being disabled. He was regularly whipped at school for being late, for not being able to participate in sports, and was bullied and beaten by the other kids and teachers. His family was victimised as disabled children are seen as a punishment from God in some communities. His story is unfortunately not unique. AbleChildAfrica seeks to help and transform the lives of disabled children across the continent by offering special classes, physio and social education so the communities understand that disabled children are just children. They have enjoyed many success stories of integrating disabled children into their local communities. I was left really moved by their work and motivated to spread awareness and raise funds for the cause.
As for the ride, this is my 4th time but riding 100 miles never gets any easier. Juggling family life with long rides at the weekend is not easy. However, it is a wonderful event and it keeps me disciplined and motivated.
I'm really grateful for your support
Many thanks
