My story
We all know someone who has been affected by cancer and Cancer Research do a great job helping people and families cope.
I am a volunteer rider for the Severn Freewheelers, who offer a free to the NHS, courier service delivering Blood, Samples, Medications, Notes and Equipment covering out of office hours.
I work for Fawcetts Volvo in Newbury and they have agreed that however much money I raise for Cancer Research they will match it and donate that to the Severn Freewheelers Blood Bike Charity.
This JustGiving page is for those who want to support "The Longest Day Down Challenge" as a whole, and not a single particpant.
John o'Groats to Land's End....
906 miles....
In 24 hours......
On motorbikes.....
But not just any motorbikes......
"The Longest Day Down"
At sunrise on the 21st of June 2013 a group of hugely unfit, ill disciplined and foolish motorcyclists will set off from John o'Groats with the intention of seeing the sunrise 24 hours later over Lands End.
The snag is they will be attempting the 906 mile route, avoiding motorways, on a motley selection of steeds, all of which have been bought and made road legal for no more than £300......
In the motorcycling world £300 doesn't get you a lot. Think "part finished project". Think "hasn't run for 6 years". The kind of motorbike that is held together by rust, mould and optimism. The type of motorbike that gets overtaken by everything and everyone on the road........and pavement.
So to make the 900 miles in 24 hrs means desperate individuals nursing their rag-tag herd of ailing machines through the night, driven on only by Ginster's pasties and a steely determination not to fail.
