Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 8th July 2010 my husband James was diagnosed with Acute Myloid Leukaemia, later on that same day I gave birth to our 3rd child. James sadly died 2 weeks later leaving me with 3 small children age 7, 2 and 2 weeks.
In the weeks following James' death I felt it important that my children (especially my eldest child) have some contact with other children who had been bereaved. She was referred to the Hospice of St Francis along with her sisters.
Since then we have have visited the hospice on numerous occasions, for pony days and a rememberance day. On each of these occasions my children have been able to mix with other children who have all lost a parent. It is the norm and the children can talk about it if they like or not.
We were also allocated a volunteer who visited us at home and helped the children to make memory books of James. The children loved her weekly visits and treasure their books.
20 months on and we have continued to access the children's bereavement facilities as a family and we continue to get stronger with their help.
Please give what you can for this very worthwhile cause.
£50 could pay for a counselling session for a child suffering from bereavement.
