We work with communities in Malawi to prevent and relieve poverty

Story

During half term this year I went with my school to Malawi to support the work of Mbedza Projects Support. The charity is run by Julian Watson who also works as a piano teacher in our school and he oversees the spending of every pound that they raise.

The donated funds support various projects in Malawi. They build fuel efficient stoves for people, they provide mosquito nets to help prevent malaria, they create bore holes to provide water for villages, they run an HIV testing and support centre which has dramatically reduced AIDS in that area and want to open a new one, they support a special needs group which are virtually non-existent in Malawi, they sponsor orphaned children through school providing all their fees, uniform and equipment and food and they have a tree planting program to reduce deforestation.

We saw all this work in action for ourselves and had a life changing experience. Whilst I was there I bought myself some material which was made into a matching shirt and shorts. I look the business in it. I will wear them for a full day at school and provide photographic evidence of the event. I’m sure I will win some admiring glances.

If you felt able to contribute something to this appeal I would be hugely grateful and can guarantee that it will be spent on some amazing  projects which really do change lives for the better.
