Story
Lesotho has the world's third highest prevalence of HIV (23.6%) and more than 100,000 children have been orphaned. This has had a devastating impact on life expectancy, on family and community structures and on the economy.
I learnt about Kick4Life through my good friend Alden who is a trustee of the charity. A ex work colleague of Alden's, Steve Fleming founded this life changing charity in 2006. Alden has been supporting them over the last few years and giving us regular updates on the work that this fantastic charity has been doing.
So when Alden gave me the chance to join him to deliver the transformational Kick-4-Life Curriculum to disadvantaged children in one of the poorest nations on earth, it was an opportunity I could not turn down.
So in September 2014, as well as working directly with young people to dispel myths about HIV and AIDS, we will be raising a serious amount of money to help K4L's full-time staff to deliver a wide range of health and social welfare programmes in the country.
To take part in this amazing trip, I have to raise the not insignificant sum of £2,500 for K4L. However, here is the great part - as K4L organise the trip themselves, there are no middle men taking a cut - every penny raised goes straight towards helping some of the most disadvantaged children in our World. In addition, I will be paying all of the flight costs etc myself, so not a penny of the money donated with be wasted.
However, I don't want you to think I won't work hard for your sponsorship - on 27th October this year, I will be running the Great South Run - 10 miles of sheer hell. Then in June 2014, I will be joining some of my fellow K4Lers on the Three Peaks Challenge, attempting to conquer the highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales in 24 hours!
So please be as generous as you can - this charity has been having a real impact and transforming lives and opportunities for tens of thousands of people over many years. Call me if you want to know more, otherwise a few clicks is all it takes.
