My amazing daughter Emma died in 2018, aged 27, having suffered and died from Anorexia which she had suffered from age 13. At the inquest into her death (and four other Cambridgeshire women) the Coroner said "The tragedy of this illness is not just the loss of life, it's also the loss potential." This is the deadliest of all mental health illness and extremely challenging for people who suffer and their families.
PEDS has been a ray of hope for me personally and our nurse-led team helps hundreds of people find a way out of the illness. I became chairman of this amazing charity in 2020 and I'm incredibly proud of what they do. When you lose a child life takes on new meaning, this is for those like Emma who need our help to find a life to get well for.
It's also a personal challenge in my 60th year and comes after 2 years with 2 major kidney operations limiting exercise to dog walking. This is going to hurt a lot - so that has to be worth giving generously!
