Story
I am riding with the ERA Team on the London to Brighton Off-Road cycle ride on 21st September. This is 75 miles of largely off-road riding; leaving London and heading over the North and South Downs before arriving at the South Coast. For reasons explained below, I would like my own efforts to raise some money in support of a charity called the Donor Family Network.
Their purpose is to provide awareness of organ donation, for the families of those who have died and donated, for recipients and for those awaiting transplants. The charity is run by donor families and is entirely funded by donations.
I have been on the NHS Organ Donor Register for many years, but the issue of organ donation has come to the forefront of my mind following the recent sad loss of Ben Carroll, a colleague at Earthing Solutions. Ben died in a tragic accident that occurred during a cycling road race in Abergavenny.
Ben and his family were supporters of organ donation and I understand four people have since benefited from his generosity of spirit. At a recent bike ride in Wales, I met (and rode) with Ben's Father and said I would like to dedicate my efforts to the charity that he is supporting. He and his family have plans to do further fundraising work in support of this charity as a legacy to Ben.
I do hope you are willing to assist me in my aims to help this worthy cause by donating something large or small for my efforts. Many Thanks. Simon
