Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Firstly, Tony and I completed a blog detailing our experiences during the challenge and showing some photos and a video. go to this link... http://thames100.blogspot.com/

My Goal is to raise money for The Parkinsons Diease Society.  Every year I will attempt a physical challenge to raise awareness and money for this charity.

This year myself and Tony (National Rowing Ace!) Ruane rowed 100+ miles of The Thames in four days. An easy challenge for some perhaps but as most of you may know I have Parkinson's which I'm glad to say only caused an extra wake or two along the way.

The Challenge                           15th -19th July               River Thames Row

Day 1 - Droped the boat in at Radstock early on Wednesday the 15th of July and rowed aproximately 25 miles to St Edwards school, Oxford and camped the night by the school boat house.

Day 2 - 19 miles to Shillingford where we stayed at the Shillingford Bridge Hotel for the night. Having rowed 44 miles in two days, a hotel bar stool and a soft bed was well deserved.

Day 3 - 25 mile stretch to Shiplake, where we stored the boat at Shiplake College boat house, just up from Shiplake Lock. We made an appearence in a nearby pub...and accepted the kind hospitality of friends who lived just across the river.

Day 4 - This should have seen us rowing as far as Cookham (my home) 15 miles further down River but having seen the forecast for Sunday we set our sites on the 100 mile mark at Old Windsor.

My aim was and continues to be to raise greater awareness of Parkinson's, particularly in people below 50. PD IS NOT AN OLD PERSONS DISEASE as a lot of the media would suggest. There are a lot of young Mums and Dads out there that are trying to overcome this debilitating disease. I want a cure for them so that we can all look forward to enjoying our kids and them us.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Many Thanks

Simon
