Story
On the 3rd of September i will finally be undertaking the London to Brighton bike ride, as the only sport I take part in is cricket and drinking (and i haven't played any cricket this year). I will no doubt doing myself irreparable damage to bits of my anatomy in the process. So to make it worthwhile I thought it may be nice to try and raise some money for a charity that is doing a fantastic job helping Lily Ilott.
For those of you who don't know her, Lily is 4 and a half. She is a bright, inquisitive child who is interested in the world around her but she is also confined to a wheelchair.
Lily was born with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 2 which means she is unable to weight-bear and is prone to chest infections. Lily needs lots of special equipment and physiotherapy on a daily basis. She attends a mainstream school and is very clever for her age. The Jennifer Trust for Spinal Muscular Atrophy is the only national charity in the UK dedicated both to supporting people affected by Spinal Muscular Atrophy, and investing in essential research into causes, treatments and eventually a cure for the condition. The charity has already helped Lily and her family a great deal and with your support hopefully it can continue to do so for Lily and others with SMA.
So thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, please make it harder for me to give up when we cycle past my house by donating whatever you can.
Many thanks
Simon / Smooie
