Story

I marked my 50th Birthday by training for and running a 24 hour Ultra Marathon!

I am having my own unique version of a mid life crisis and decided to challenge myself and become an Ultra Marathon runner, and in the process get as fit and healthy as I possibly can. Life is short and I want to ensure I am in the best possible shape I can be. I have decided to be #Fit@Fifty...

On the 15th June I ran the Mizuno Endure24 race - and completed 75 miles!

I trained and prepared for 9 months to get to the start line in the best possible shape. I ran as far as I  possibly could in the 24 hours, and thanks to your fantastic support, have raised loads of money for South West Surrey Cruse. This amazing charity provides bereavement counselling free of charge in my local area, and is funded entirely by donations. Your amazing support and generosity helped spur me on and kept me running when my body and mind were screaming at me to stop! It was the toughest thing I have ever done, both mentally and physically. Literally blood, sweat and tears... But it was worth it!

I am continuing my Ultra marathon journey and have signed up to 2 Ultra Marathons in 2020, and will continue my fund raising journey and supporting South West Surrey Cruse...

Thank you so much for your support and kind donation. It really does mean a lot to me.

The death of someone close can be shattering. Everyone experiences grief differently; there is no normal or right way to grieve. How we react will be influenced by many different things, including our age and personality, our cultural background and religious beliefs, our previous experiences of bereavement, our circumstances and how we cope with loss. Cruse is a national charity that provides advice, information and support to anyone who has been bereaved (children, young people and adults), whenever or however the death occurred. The service is provided by trained, experienced volunteers and is confidential and free. At South West Surrey Cruse we provide a service to anyone bereaved by death who lives in the Guildford, Surrey Heath and Waverley Borough Council areas.
