Mariposa International, more widely known by the name of its primary support division 'Saying Goodbye' is a leading global charity providing support to anyone affected by baby loss, at any stage of pregnancy, at birth or in early years. Over 50,000 people access support from the charity each week.

Story

Those of you who know me will know that triathlon is one of my passions. You'll know that competing in Ironman has been a boyhood dream of mine, fulfilled last year by competing in my first full Ironman. You'll also know that my son, Bear, is my world. You may also know how overjoyed I am that my wife is pregnant (recent news!). What you might not know is that our journey to parenthood hasn't been an easy one and we've lost three precious little ones in pregnancy along the way.

So I want to use the opportunity to support a great charity called "Saying Goodbye" (https://www.sayinggoodbye.org/). "Saying Goodbye" supports families at a heartbreaking and isolating time, by providing comprehensive information, advice, support and much more to anyone who has suffered the loss of a baby, at any stage of pregnancy, at birth or in infancy.

So what is Ironman Austria? It's a pretty gruelling but beautiful long distance triathlon. Over 3000 athletes compete in a 2.4 mile swim in lake Worthersee, followed by 112 miles on the bike through the Austrian hills and finish with a marathon. My ultimate goal is to beat last years time of 10:00:52, but who knows what will happen on race day! On paper I'm well prepared thanks to (Joel) Jameson Coaching, but it's such a huge day that anything can happen. You never quite know whether your running legs will be there when you get off that long bike! Every penny I raise will spur me on, especially for the marathon at the end so whatever you can offer in support will be greatly appreciated.

I'll sign off by saying a huge thanks to Han and Bear who have put up with seeing much less of me recently and have tolerated my endless training talk! Thanks for all your support and I promise this will be the last time, for a while at least!
