Firstly, a huge thanks for taking the time to have a look at this page and if you decide to sponsor me then an even bigger thanks!
This August Bank Holiday, whilst most of you will be enjoying the weather, maybe sparking up the bbq and relaxing with a glass of wine, spare a thought for my brothers in laws, Harry & Tom Best, and I as we take on the Jurrasic Coast!
In 3 days we aim to cover the 100 miles of undulating coastline from Bournemouth to Lyme Regis. Running the length of the Dorset coastline in three days is no easy task but it is worth every blister, every ache and every drop of sweat to increase awareness about the dangers of skin cancer whilst raising as much money as possible for Cancer Research UK, a vital charity in helping us understand a horrible disease.
THE RUN
DAY 1 – The trio will take to the coastal path in Bournemouth on the bank holiday weekend of the 25th August and enjoy a 33 mile run to Lulworth Cove.
DAY 2- On the second day the team will continue their run along the picturesque path from Lulworth Cove to Abbotsbury.
DAY 3 - The final day from Abbotsbury to Lyme Regis completes the 100 mile length of the Dorset coast and will be a welcome end no doubt.
So why you may ask am I doing this? I ask myself that regularly but the truth is that last year my father-in-law lost his battle with cancer just days after his first grandchild, my daughter Mollie, was born and my brother has also twice successfully fought his battles with cancer. I’ve seen it up front and it’s not something I’d wish on my worst enemy. My pain over the 3 days will be nothing compared to that that patients suffer during treatment and cruelly the families of those that are too often left behind.
If I can raise any amount to help Cancer Research UK in their quest to develop cures and medicines and stop the suffering then I’ll be happy. I doubt I’ll ever do anything like this again so if you can spare anything please donate!
Tom has also set up a page at http://www.justgiving.com/dorsetcoastalrun
Thanks
Simon
