Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In April 2016 my boyfriend Nick sadly died and as difficult as the last few months have been, I am so grateful to have had him in my life, to love him and have him love me back. He was and still is universally loved by all those who had the pleasure to know him and he inspired those around him to be better people. 

Soon after losing Nick, my good friend Ben offered to take me away "anywhere in the world I wanted to go". This was such a generous offer I wanted to make sure we did something amazing! 

Inspired by Nick spending time in South America during his gap year, our thoughts turned to there, and very quickly we both agreed on trekking to Machu Picchu! 

Rather than chose the easier tourist route we have opted to trek for 5 days along the Salkantay trail which will take us up to 4650m into the high Andes. We fly to Peru on October 14th, start our trek on October 19th and rather wonderfully we are due to summit Machu Picchu at sunrise on Nick's birthday, October 23rd. 

Nick supported so many good causes and would always help his friends in any fundraising they did too. He was also a massive supporter of the LGBT community. I therefore wanted to raise money in his memory for a cause that I know he would be proud to support too, and have settled on the wonderful work that Stonewall do. 

Their mission is "To let all lesbian, gay, bi and trans people, here and abroad, know they're not alone". When I read those words it made me think of Nick. I know from my own experiences and through talking to his friends that he helped me and them feel proud to be who they were. 

Stonewall achieve this through empowering individuals, transforming institutions, helping to change hearts and minds and helping to change laws. 

I will carry Nick in my heart always and on this journey to the top of the Andes mountains. Thank you for reading this far. If you can help support this wonderful cause in the name of a truly wonderful human being that would be AWESOME! Thanks.
