Story
Hello, thank you for visiting my JustGiving page. I am raising money for Street Child by running Sierra Leone's first ever marathon - a pretty unique and challenging event!
For those who very kindly make donations, thank you so much for sponsoring me and for supporting an incredible charity.
Facts about Street Child:
·Street Child was founded in 2008 in response to Sierra Leone's appalling poverty and to the devastating effects of its 11 year civil war in which the use of child soldiers was especially prevalent.
·Its work targets poverty, education, economic sustainability, and the reuniting of children with their families.
·In 2 years, the charity supported over 2,000 children get back into school.
·An impressive 90% of money donated is spent inside Sierra Leone on projects.
·It has high ambitions: to work in every major town in the country and to help all of Sierra Leone's 48,000 street children off the streets - a number into which the charity's work has already made significant inroads.
Through its support for Street Child, the run in June is an amazing opportunity to help the development of one of the most impoverished countries in the world. Your donation will make a real impact since it costs just £40 to send a child to school for a whole year, and it costs £100 to cover essential medical care for 50 children for a month.
I've never run a marathon before so it’s quite intimidating to be running my first one in tropical conditions - thus all of your support will be especially appreciated!
I will post any updates on my blog which I am writing about the race (somewhat embarrassingly), and which can be found here: http://www.kilnsierraleonemarathon.com/blog/?author=Simon%20Bianco
Many thanks again,
Simon
