Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
17 years ago, I landed in Nepal on the same day the British Embassy declared the country a no-go zone. A revolution had begun that would eventually overthrow the undemocratic Nepalese Monarchy, and become known as the People's Movement. Nepal was in civil war and I was trapped in curfews in Kathmandu and in the Himalayan mountains, huddled around radios with the local communities listening to their country change before their eyes.
Yet despite this, Nepal still remains the most beautiful country I have been privileged to travel to. One of the poorest countries in the world, with a quarter of the population below the poverty line, yet its people were so welcoming, kind and proud and left a lasting impression on me.
This April I am running The London Marathon in a pink tutu, to raising money for Global Action Nepal. A wonderful charity improving access to, and quality of education for the poor and marginalised. It also culminates a two year journey for me improving my physical and mental health.
I appreciate times are hard for everyone at the moment. If you can spare anything, I would be very grateful.
