Dear friends,

as you know I will be working for the kenyan NGO "Teach a Child - Africa" this summer. My task is to monitor and evaluate the work of TaC. TaC sponsors talented young people who lost both their parents due to the HIV/AIDS pandemic. These bright young minds therefore cannot afford the fees for their secondary education. That's where TaC comes in by sponsoring them 4 years of secondary school. It's their only chance to obtain an education and a life in dignity.

In order to evaluate the work of TaC and the progress of the sponsored children I need the following equipment: 

- a camcorder (300.-/£180) with a microphone (80.-/£50)

- a netbook (400.-/£240) 

- a solar charger (190.-/£120).  

- two surge protectors (10.- / £5 each) 

- a flash drive and a case for the netbook (60.-/£30)

All equipment will be purchased second hand in Switzerland, where I live, and brought directly to Kenya, as technical equipment is much more expensive in Kenya itself (due to taxes).

All equipment will be used for TaC-purposes only and will be handed over to the Nairobi team upon arrival. If more than 950.- / £630 can be raised, the money will be used to purchase so called dignitiy kits for the sponsored children. They live in boarding schools, where they receive housing and food. But they cannot afford basic toilettries, which has negative consequences especially for the sponsored teenage girls who miss out on classes a few days every month!
