Story

On the 2nd October 2013, I will be jumping out a plane at 15,000 FT at 200 KPH.

This year on the 2nd October will be 10 years since my amazing, beautiful Dad lost his fight against cancer at the age of 29. Cancer tore my family apart, but we fought through loosing my Dad, stuck together and have taken him on with us in everything we do, which is why when I jump I will have a picture of my Dad and he will jump with me.I was always going to do a sky dive, when I told my mum she told me that it was something my Dad had always wanted to do but didn't, so now he will.

I want to take this opportunity to raise some money for Macmillan Cancer Support, Cancer has taken a hit to my family, family friends and friends too many times to mention, so I will be raising this money in ore of their bravery and courage for everyone who has lost, fought or fighting against it.

My best friend Ellie is a very important person who has shared a lot of memories we have with my Dad, she was there for some of the funniest stories we tell. The thing about my Dad was he was spontaneous and always having fun, so when he brought motorbikes and quads for my brothers she was obviously going to be there having ago, falling off and burning her leg which she still has the scar from, she was there when my brother drove the quad through the neighbours fence, and she was teased by my Dad as well as myself about the boys names we had in love hearts around our diaries. So seems as though we are the other side of the world together, if me and my Dad are jumping out a plane, there is no way Ellie will be standing and watching, so she will jump too.

The reason I have chosen Macmillan Cancer support is because one thing I remember from my Dad being ill is the amazing Macmillan nurses, they treated my Dad so well and always had a laugh and a joke with him, they made him feel comfortable and they also always had time to chat to me and my brothers. When you are in one of the darkest places in your life, a smiling face and someone to just be normal with is all you sometimes need, and I feel they provided that. I couldn't imagine doing their job and the emotional roller coaster they face every day, I think sometimes their work goes unnoticed, but what they do takes incredible strength and a kind heart. Any donation helps no matter how big and small, and to keep this support network going is so important to anyone that is affected by cancer.

When I found out my Dad was ill and I was crying, he told me to look at him, asked why i was crying, tensed his arms and said:

'strong as bull'

That he was, incredibly strong. This ones for you Dad xxxxxxxxx
